Predators is a 2010 American science fiction action film directed by Nimród Antal and starring Adrien Brody, Laurence Fishburne, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Walton Goggins, Danny Trejo, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, Oleg Taktarov, and Louis Ozawa Changchien. It was distributed by 20th Century Fox. It is the third film in the Predator franchise, following Predator (1987), Predator 2 (1990), and the crossover films Alien vs. Predator (2004) and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007).
The film follows Royce (Adrien Brody), a mercenary, who wakes up finding himself falling from the sky into a jungle. Once on the ground, he meets other people who have arrived there in the same manner, all of whom have questionable backgrounds, except for a doctor (Topher Grace). As the film progresses, the group discovers that they are on an alien planet that acts as a game reserve to which they are being hunted by a merciless race of aliens known as Predators.

Producer Robert Rodriguez had developed a script as early as 1994, although it was not until 2009 that 20th Century Fox greenlit the project. According to Rodriguez, the title Predators is an allusion to the second film in the Alien franchise, Aliens (1986).[5] The title also has a double meaning, referring both to the extraterrestrial Predator creatures and to the group of human characters who are pitted against them.[6] Principal photography for Predators began on September 28, 2009 and concluded after 53 days; filming took place in Hawaii and then in Austin, Texas.

Predators was released in the United States on July 9, 2010, and was met with mixed reception from film critics. The film grossed over $24 million on its opening weekend, and has since grossed over $50 million in the United States, with an estimated total of $125 million worldwide.

It will leave you longing for one more dekko to get the picture straight....Too many levels of reality, too many things happening and too innovative an idea!
Refreshingly, Leonardo DiCaprio has only recently proved his skills at skating in and out of the inner recesses of the mind with unbridled felicity in Shutter Island. Once again, he walks into people's heads while they are asleep and walks out with their ideas, leaving them still asleep. But not satisfied with a mere extraction of ideas, he tries to push the limits of science still further. How about planting ideas, he asks himself and ends up burning up his own domestic idyll by using his beautiful wife (Marion Cottilard) as the gullible guinea pig. The experiment backfires and ends up as a tragedy that not only makes him a fugitive, it also tampers with his mind and creates a parallel reality that refuses to let go. So that, when the young Ellen Page joins him on his latest mission, she realises how dangerous it is going to be sharing the dreams of this troubled hero who must fight his own demons before he can play with other people's minds.

Inception is not only one of the most original films in recent months, it is absolutely riveting stuff. Like The Matrix, most of the action takes place in the realm of dreams, but they seem completely life-like: the chases, the crashes, the explosions, the extractions, the interrogations, the heartbreak, the longing, the despair. Leonardo is in stellar form, scoring another high after Shutter Island. A special word for cinematographer Wally Pfister who juxtaposes the real and the surreal with such finesse, you never do get confused and always remain aware of the slippery ground you are treading on. Go, get intrigued and push the boundaries of your mind.

In the trinity of modern horror films, there's the father (Michael Myers of Halloween), the son (Jason of Friday the13th fame, a knockoff), and the unholy spirit, Freddy Krueger of the Nightmare on Elm Street films. The spectral man who haunted the nightmares of unsuspecting teenagers with deadly consequences, Freddy (as played by Robert Englund) was a truly frightening bogeyman and icon for the '80s. Unlike the hockey-masked Jason, who dispatched horny teenagers with mechanical and monotonous ease (he never talked, never took off his mask), Freddy was a truly creative and diabolical villain, with a sadistic and blackly funny personality. The hallmarks of the Nightmare on Elm Street series were imaginatively gruesome suspense pieces, set in the overactive imaginations of the teen victims. The first film of the series, Wes Craven's truly intelligent and scary film, was so hugely successful it begat not one, not two, but six more sequels, each pretty much diluting the originality and horror of its predecesor. (Horror fans will fondly remember Drew Barrymore's assertion in Scream that the first Nightmare film was great but all the rest sucked.) Still, there's fun to be had in the remaining films in the series, seeing as a number of aspiring filmmakers cut their teeth on the continuing saga of Freddy. Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption) and Chuck Russell (The Mask) worked on the third installment, Dream Warriors (starring a young Patricia Arquette), and Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2) came to prominence with the ingeniously macabre fourth film, The Dream Master, coscripted by Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential). Craven and original star Heather Langenkamp did return for the last film, New Nightmare, which presaged the tongue-in-cheek postmodernism of the Scream films and resharpened Freddy's ability to scare.
